Valakai Poriyal / Raw Banana Poriyal with Coconut

Coming from school and eating a plateful of sambar rice with vazhakai poriyal (raw bananafry) is one which can never be forgotten.
Amma makes valakai poriyal often, but it is made like the usual one with chilli powder and salt. This one is different because we add coconut. Actually the bananas are cooked with gratted coconut so you will get all the flavour right into the banana which makes it even more tasty..

Ingredients:
For Tempering
Dry Red Chilli – 4
Mustard Seeds / Kaduku – 1 tsp
Urad Dal / Ulundu – 1 tsp
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 Tspn
Valakai / Raw Banana 4 Nos
Coconut – Half cup
Onion - 2 Nos
How to make
1.Take banana cut them into 2 halfs and add some water to it.
Cook the banana till the skin color get changed.
2.Then drain the water and cool that for some time. Now cut
them into small pieces as you like.
3.Now take a pan add about 2 Tspn of oil, then add mustard,
urad dal, dry chillies and curry leaves. Fry it well.
4.Now add the finely chopped onions to it and fry that well till
onion get golden brown in color.
5.Now add turmeric powder and salt for taste and mix that with
the fried onions.
6.Then add the chopped banana pieces to it and mix that well
with the onions .
7.Add the half cup gratted coconut to it and mix it well.
Cook it for about 5mins in medium flame
8.Yummy Banana fry is ready to serve hot.You can also remove
the skin if you don't like .
